Beijing Seeks More Foreign Investment

Beijing Mayor Meng Xuenong said onWednesday that the Chinese capital will further improve its investment environment to attract more foreign investment and enhance the city's economic competitive edge.

Beijing Mayor Meng Xuenong said onWednesday that the Chinese capital will further improve its investment environment to attract more foreign investment and enhance the city's economic competitive edge.

Meeting Gary L. Rogers, vice-chairman and executive officer of the US-based General Electric (GE) company, Meng said every municipal department should improve efficiency and performance to optimize the city's investment environment.

He said the Beijing Municipal Government is preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games by vigorously carrying out infrastructure construction.

Multinational companies are welcome to help speed up the city'sdevelopment and join the infrastructure construction programs for the Olympics, Meng said.

Rogers said GE's investment in Beijing has paid off. The company will invest more money and expand its business in China.
