The Turkish military has drawn up a war plan to cope with a possible US operation against Iraq, reported Turkish daily Radikal (Radical) on Tuesday.
Under the plan, Turkish troops will enter northern Iraq simultaneously with American forces, and the number of Turkish troops will be symbolically one more than that of the American contingents, which will arrive in Turkey in groups.
Turkey will not allow the United States to have more than 5,000 troops deployed in Turkey, and the duration of US troops in Turkey is one year, which would be extended by the Turkish government if necessary.
Meanwhile, British forces will not be allowed to enter northern Iraq by way of Turkey, which will exercise a control over passage of US troops to northern Iraq.
Before making a political decision authorizing the military to carry out the plan, the Turkish government will wait for another UN resolution on Iraq about results of the weapons inspection.
After it, according to Turkish constitution, it is up to parliament to decide whether to approve the plan to host US troops and despatch Turkish troops abroad.
