DPRK Official Meets South Korean Special Envoy

South Korean special envoy Lim Dong-won met Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Pyongyang on Tuesday.

South Korean special envoy Lim Dong-won met Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Pyongyang on Tuesday.

The official Korean Central News Agency, in a two-paragraph report, gave no details about the meeting, saying only that the talks were held in a "compatriotic way."

Lim, who arrived in Pyongyang on Monday, is expected to stay for two to three more days to discuss with DPRK officials the nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula.

He is reportedly to deliver a personal letter from South Korean President Kim Dae-jung to DPRK leader Kim Jong Il, calling on the DPRK to take substantive measures to defuse the nuclear crisis.
