Iraq Defends Its Position on Disarmament

Iraqi ambassador to the United Nations Mohammed al-Douri said at the UN Headquarters in New York Monday that his country had offered active cooperation with the UN weapon inspectors.
The country has made a full and complete declaration on its weapons of mass destruction and provided unconditional access for inspections from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) andUN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), he said.
He said Iraq had done everything to comply with the UN Resolution 1441.
Answering questions from reporters about criticism by the two chief inspectors that Iraq has not provided all information to clear unanswered questions, he said Iraq has nothing to hide.
"We open all doors to Mr. Blix and his team. If there is something, he will find it. We have no hidden reports at all. Theyhave to read carefully this report," adding that Baghdad is willing to discuss all remaining issues.
Also on Monday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri accused US Secretary of State Colin Powell of telling a "series of lies" alleging Iraq has not cooperated with UN arms monitors. He said hehoped that the chief inspectors would deliver an "objective' report.
The US and British governments threaten to invade Iraq if, in their view, it has not sufficiently complied with the UN disarmament demands.
