Premier Rongji attended a party Monday in the auditorium of the State Council in the Zhongnanhai compound, the headquarters of the Chinese central authorities.

Chinese Premier Attends Spring Festival Celebration

Premier Rongji attended a party Monday in the auditorium of the State Council in the Zhongnanhai compound, the headquarters of the Chinese central authorities.

The party was held by the General Office of the State Council in celebration of the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year, the Spring Festival, which falls on Feb. 1 this year.

In a brief address, the premier thanked cabinet personnel and retired officials for their contribution to the country's development.

Also in attendance were vice-premiers Li Lanqing, Qian Qichen, Wu Bangguo and Wen Jiabao, and state councilors Chi Haotian, Luo Gan, Wu Yi, Ismail Amat and Wang Zhongyu.
