The Three Gorges Project Construction Committee Office says more than 70,000 residents will be relocated annually over the next seven years for the third phase of the project.

A committee spokesman says with the successful closure of the diversion canal at the Three Gorges dam last November, the reservoir is expected to be ready for water storage in June this year.

After that, relocation will still be a key task in the third phase of construction of the project.

The relocation of over 600,000 local people has almost been completed under the second phase of the project.
