Egypt, Kuwait Urge Iraq to Fully Cooperate with UN Inspectors

Egypt and Kuwait stressed in Kuwait City Sunday that Iraq should give a full chance, with all transparency, to international inspectors so that it may avert a possible US military strike.

Egypt and Kuwait stressed in Kuwait City Sunday that Iraq should give a full chance, with all transparency, to international inspectors so that it may avert a possible US military strike.

Visiting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Gaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah made the remarks during their talks here, Egyptian Minister of Information Safwat Al Sherif noted.

The two sides stressed that Iraq should carry out resolutions ofinternational legitimacy represented in UN Security Council Resollution 1441 while appealing to the world body to apply relevant resolutions.

They held that All efforts and support of the international community are required to avert a military action which would have consequences on the security and stability of the region and to save the Iraqi people.

Mubarak arrived here earlier in the day for "an official visit within the framework of exchange of views on an Arab vision to savethe area from the dangers of a military clash."

the visit of President Mubarak comes within the framework of a keen desire to consult in order to clarify visions on an Arab stance which places the higher interests of the Arab nation above all considerations, Sherif stressed.

In addition to the Iraqi issue, the talks also focused on the Middle East issue, notably the Palestinian cause and the outcome ofmeeting between different Palestinian factions in Cairo.

Kuwait is the second leg of Mubarak's visit, which also took himto the United Arab Emirates.

The United States, which accuses Iraq of secretly developing andhiding weapons of mass destruction, is stepping up preparations fora possible war on Iraq.

Arab countries call for a peaceful solution to the Iraqi standoff and warn against negative repercussions of any war on Iraq.
