Putin Informs ROK Leader on Nuclear Issue

Russian President Vladimir Putin onSaturday held a telephone talk with President of Republic of Korea(ROK) Kim Dae-jung over the nuclear crisis involving the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Russian President Vladimir Putin onSaturday held a telephone talk with President of Republic of Korea(ROK) Kim Dae-jung over the nuclear crisis involving the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Putin informed Kim of the latest efforts taken by Russia for a political settlement to the so-called DPRK nuclear problem, the Kremlin press service said.

Putin stressed "the principal importance of continuing the inter-Korean process" and praised Kim for his individual endeavor in solving the DPRK issue, it said.

Kim, for his part, expressed his gratitude for "the positive impact of Russia" in this process.

Russia, which has good ties with the DPRK, is trying to defuse the crisis over the DPRK nuclear program.
