Koizumi, Bush Agree on Trilateral Cooperation over DPRK Nuclear Issue

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and US President George W. Bush agreed during a telephone conversation Saturday night that Japan, the U.S. and South Korea will cooperate closely to reach a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue concerning the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and US President George W. Bush agreed during a telephone conversation Saturday night that Japan, the U.S. and South Korea will cooperate closely to reach a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue concerning the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Koizumi also asked Bush to maintain international cooperation in dealing with Iraq, Japan's Kyodo News reported.

Bush said that the U.S. hopes for a peaceful solution regarding Iraq, but that Iraq is uncooperative with U.N. inspections for weapons of mass destruction, Kyodo reported.

Bush told Koizumi that he has made no decision on whether to attack Iraq, the report said.
