The Taiwan issue will be solved satisfactorily after common efforts made by all the Chinese, Ma Man Kei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said at a seminar held Saturday in Macao.
He said the Macao compatriots will firmly stick to President Jiang Zemin's eight-point proposal on the Taiwan issue and resolutely support the principles and policies of the central government in this regard.
The Spring Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday, will come in just a couple of days, Ma said, adding that all the Chinese will express their concerns for the Taiwan compatriots on every red-letter day and wishes for the reunification of the motherland.
He urged the Macao people to use their own conditions to attract the Taiwan people to visit Macao, letting them feel the stability of Macao after its return to the motherland.
Macao is a very successful example in the implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle, he said.
The seminar was held by the Macao Daily News to mark the eighth anniversary of President Jiang's speech, which elucidated in a deep-going way eight points of views and propositions on the development of relations across Taiwan Strait.
