China Hopes for Peace, Stability in Korean Peninsula
Top Chinese lawmaker Li Peng told his counterpart from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Friday that China hopes for peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.
Top Chinese lawmaker Li Peng told his counterpart from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Friday that China hopes for peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.
Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks during talks with Choe Tae Bok, chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, who is here to attend the on-going Executive Council Meeting of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace.
"It is the unswerving policy of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government to constantly consolidate and propel the traditional friendship and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK," Li said, adding that "we hope for peace and stability in the peninsula."
The top leaders of both countries have been far-sighted by deciding upon the principles of bilateral relations, which are inheriting friendly traditions, promoting neighborly relations and strengthening cooperation that will lead to future developments, Li said.
Choe agreed with Li's comments on bilateral relations, saying that greater achievement can be made in this aspect through joint efforts of both sides.
He said that the people of the DPRK also hope for greater accomplishments for the Chinese people in their cause of building a socialist country with their own characteristics.
