Anti-war Protest Takes Place at Six-nation Meeting Venue

An anti-war demonstration organized by the Association of Human Rights and Solidarity for Peoples (MAZLUMDER) took place at the venue of the six-nation meeting on Iraqi crisis in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday morning.

An anti-war demonstration organized by the Association of Human Rights and Solidarity for Peoples (MAZLUMDER) took place at the venue of the six-nation meeting on Iraqi crisis in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday morning.

The demonstrators gathered in front of the Ciragan Palace where foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia andIran, were to meet later on Thursday in a bid to seek ways to solvethe standoff between the United States and Iraq peacefully.

The group carried banners reading "Defend your rights and our people" and "Bush likes dead."

Mustafa Ercan, member of MAZLUMDER Executive Board, said they would like to present a letter to Turkish Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and to the six foreign ministers, who will attend the meeting.

Their demand was rejected, but the letter had been accepted by security guards to convey to Gul, said Ercan. The group later dispersed without any incident.
