Trade between Guangdong, US Increases
Trade between Guangdong Province,an economic powerhouse in south China, and the United States totaled 36.27 billion US dollars in 2002, 24.4 percent more than the previous year, customs statistics show.

The figure accounted for 37.3 percent of the total trade volume between China and the United States for last year, statistics show.
Guangdong's exports to the US totaled 29.58 billion US dollars in 2002, up 24.6 percent on a yearly basis and accounting for 42.3 percent of China's total exports to the United States.
The province's imports from the US totaled 6.69 billion US dollars last year, up 23.3 percent from the previous year.
State-owned, foreign-funded and private enterprises played their roles in the trade.
The exports of state-owned and foreign-funded enterprises accounted for 37.7 percent and 57 percent, respectively, of the province's total exports to the United States for last year.
Private enterprises registered 670 million US dollars in exports and 540 million US dollars in imports in 2002, increasing by 20 percent and 40 percent respectively over the previous year.
Exports and imports of electro-mechanical products accounted for 60 percent and 50 percent respectively of the province's total exports to and imports from the US in 2002.
