Ninth National Committee of CPPCC Opens New Session

The Standing Committee of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top government advisory body, opened its 20th session Monday morning.

The Standing Committee of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top government advisory body, opened its 20th session Monday morning.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, attended the opening ceremony of the four-day meeting, which will focus on making preparations for convening the First Session of the Tenth National Committee of the CPPCC.

The agenda of the current session mainly includes:

-- to deliberate and approve the decision to convene the First Session of the Tenth National Committee of the CPPCC;

-- to discuss and approve organizations, quotas and name lists of delegates to the First Session of the Tenth National Committee of the CPPCC;

-- to deliberate and approve the report on the conditions of the work report of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National Committee of the CPPCC and the conditions of proposals to be submitted to the First Session of the Tenth National Committee of the CPPCC;

-- to deliberate and approve the draft agenda and draft calendar for the First Session of the Tenth National Committee of the CPPCC;

-- to deliberate and approve the decision to entrust the chairman's meeting with deliberating issues not addressed by the 20th Session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National Committee of the CPPCC; and

-- to deliberate written work summaries, inspections and overseas visits.

Twenty-three vice chairmen of the National Committee of the CPPCC, including Yang Rudai and Wang Zhaoguo, attended the opening ceremony.
