Chinese FM to Attend UN Anti-terrorism Meeting

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan will attend an anti-terrorism meeting of foreign ministersto be held by the Security Council of the United Nations in New York on Jan. 20, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan will attend an anti-terrorism meeting of foreign ministersto be held by the Security Council of the United Nations in New York on Jan. 20, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

The meeting will review the international anti-terrorism cooperation since the Sept. 11 terrorist attack against the UnitedStates, and determine the working emphasis for the new year.

Due to the meeting's importance, Tang has adjusted the arrangements of his Africa visit especially to be able to attend.

Tang will address the meeting on China's stance on the fight against terrorism.

He will also meet with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and exchange views on issues of common concern with foreign ministers of related countries.
