Breaking price monopolies on tapwater, electricity, telecommunication and post will be among the focuses of Guangdong province's price reform in 2003.

According to the provincial prices bureau in a meeting recentlyheld in Guangzhou, capital of the southern province, this is part of a move to promote publication of governmental charges in the whole province, said the bureau.

All governmental charges must be published in charging offices or on public bulletins within one year, said Chen Xiaochuan, director of the price bureau.

Guangdong province lowered a host of governmental charges to reduce the operational cost of social economy last year and the price of electric power was the most heavily cut, said Chen.
