Cuba and China on Wednesday signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation, under which China provides a 6-million-US dollar grant to help with Cuba's education.
Chinese Foreign Trade Minister Shi Guangsheng and Cuban Interior Minister Ricardo Cabrisas signed the agreement at the end of a joint economic and commercial session between the two countries.
Chinese and Cuban firms also signed contracts on China's purchase of Cuban nickel and sugar, and a letter of intention on Chinese investment in Cuba.
The Chinese minister praised the traditional friendship between China and Cuba, saying the agreements would contribute to the development of bilateral ties.
Cabrisas said more efforts would be made to further enhance bilateral ties, especially efforts to increase Chinese exports to Cuba.
Heading a high-level delegation, the Chinese minister arrived in Havana on Saturday to attend the three-day joint session. He met with Cuban leader Fidel Castro on Monday.
