Shiekh Ahmed Yassin, founder and spiritual leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), on Monday called on Palestinians to kidnap Israelis as hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
Yassin made the call at a news conference after Palestinians held a rally at the International Committee of the Red Cross headquarters in Gaza City to press for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
"Palestinian prisoners are waiting for being exchanged with Israelis to be taken as hostages by Palestinians," Yassin told reporters.
"Look at me, I was freed twice from Israeli jails after deals ofprisoners exchange," said Yassi, who was arrested in 1984 and then released in exchange of prisoners in 1986. He was arrested again in1988 and set free in 1997.
