Three skiers have been disqualified from the National Winter Games for blocking and trampling in the women's cross country pursuit race on Tuesday.

In the 10km classic pursuit race Tuesday morning, Yang Yuxiang and Jiang Chunli, both from Harbin team, skied shoulder to shoulder at the 4km point with the intention of blocking pre-race favorite Hou Yuxia when the skier from Baishan city tried to surpass them and lead the race.

And at the back of Hou Yuxia, Ji Xuejiao from Jixi city even trampled on Hou's ski.

Baisan team lodged a strong protest to the Arbitration Commission, who, after a brief discussion, disqualified the three skiers from competition.

The three skiers and their coaches were also given a severe warning by the Competition Commission for their unsportsman-like act.

Liang Xin'an, coach of Baishan ski team, was furious with what happened in the race, saying, "it was an unfair and unjust race. It was a conspiracy. This kind of act is definitely unacceptable."
