Beijing Ducks Embrace 3rd Consecutive Win in CBA League

Beijing Ducks upset Xinjiang Guanghui 101-86 in the ninth round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league Sunday in Beijing, extending their winning streak to three games.

Beijing Ducks upset Xinjiang Guanghui 101-86 in the ninth round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Sunday, extending their winning streak to three games.

Friend Kimani scored 37 points and 16 rebounds in 40 minutes for the Ducks and Christopher Herren added 21 points. The Ducks had beaten Sina Lions and Shaanxi Kylin before today's match.

In their fifth consecutive win in Beijing, Ducks outscored Guanghui 37-20 in the second quarter.

"I am pleased to win three matches in a row," Ducks coach Min Lulei said. "We're really competing out, trying to play hard defense and make great efforts in inside attacking."

Gong Daming led the Guanghui with 26 points on 7-of-11 shooting,but Guagnhui's rebound was totally overwhelmed by the Ducks.

"I am satisfied with my players performances," said Jiang Xingquan, the head coach of the Guanghui. "Although we lost the game, but their heads were in the game, as you can see."

The Ducks started the second quarter with a 14-2 run that gave them a 57-45 halftime lead.

Guanghui attempted 50 free throws, but only making 70 percent, including Zhang Weigang's 7-11.

A free throw by Zhang Weigang cut Duck's lead to 77-72 with 8 minutes left in the final quarter, but the Ducks sealed the victory with a 8-4 run, including an alley-hoops by Kimani at the buzzer.
