Cheaters could hardly have an escape at the National Winter Games as two-thirds athletes taking part in the event will have dope test.

Zhu Chengyi, vice-director of Winter Sports Administration, told Xinhua Saturday that top three finishers from 74 events at China's national winter games are obliged to accept dope test while the rest will accept random test.

"We have strengthened our measures to fight against doping at the games," he said, adding that more than 80 athletes had been tested before the games officially unveiled its curtain on Sunday. But he did not give any detail of the tests.

A total of 846 skaters, skiers and players have registered to take part in the games, which is scheduled from January 5 to 18.

Zhu noted that the State Sports Administrative Bureau have implemented a very strict policy in its fight against doping and any cheaters being caught will face serious punishment.

"Any drug cheaters will be severly punished," he said.
