Three American Doctors Killed in Yemen

Three American doctors were shot dead and another was wounded on Monday by an unknown gunman in the Yemeni town of Jibla, local sources said.

Three American doctors were shot dead and another was wounded by a gunman on Monday at the Al-Mamadani Hospital in the Yemeni town of Jibla, 170 km south of the capital Sanaa.

The three Americans killed were identified as hospital manager William Kin, doctor Marth Mairi and Katy Green, who is in charge ofthe hospital store. The wounded one is Bill, the official Yemeni News Agency reported.

The gunman, 32, identified as Abed Abdel-Razak, was an undergraduate of al-Iman university in Yemen. The university was run by controversial al-Islah party thinker Sheikh Abul Majid al-Zindani and was closed briefly last year as a hotbed of fundamentalism.

Abdel-Razak, who was arrested, opened fire at the doctors while they were holding a routine meeting in the morning. He reportedly used a semiautomatic rifle and a gun in the attack.

The motive of his crime is still under investigations.
