The Chinese mainland has accepted applications from three Taiwan airlines to operate indirect charter flights for the Lunar New Year holiday.
An official with the Civil Aviation Administration of China, says the airlines involved are Far East Air Transport, China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines.
However, the official says the application forms are only preliminary papers and more documents are required from the carriers.
Taiwan authorities agreed to the indirect charter flights earlier December.
According to the plan, chartered flights will operate between January 26th and February 10th. The flights will help carry some of the estimated 300,000 Taiwan businessmen who work in the mainland and plan to return home for the Lunar New Year.
