Senior Official Stresses Quality Inspection

Wu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made the remarks when meeting with quality inspection workers Friday in Beijing.
At the meeting, Wu spoke highly of achievements made by the quality inspection departments over the past year.
While stressing the fight against counterfeits and shoddy goods, Wu demanded that efforts should also be made to enhance basic workin standards, measurement and certification and to help and urge enterprises to improve product quality.
To achieve the goal of building a well-off society in an all round way, which was set by the 16th National Congress of the CPC,the quality inspection departments have a lot to do, according to Wu.
Wu asked the departments to play an active role in promoting the establishment of a credit system in the society. They may helpwith the formation of a corporate credit rating system and enterprises' endeavors to improve product quality through such means as filing corporate quality archives, she said.
Wu also called for measures by the inspection departments to support the expansion of farm produce export and help farmers increase their income.
Meanwhile, exertions should also be made to prevent toxic and harmful goods from entering China, Wu stressed.
She added that related departments should enhance supervision over foodstuffs and medicines concerning people's daily lives in the upcoming holiday season and thus safeguard the interests of the masses.
