China Aims for Festive Air as New Year Nears

The Chinese government embarked on a nationwide strike against price cheating this week in a bid to create a festive and peaceful atmosphere for the people during the upcoming New Year and Chinese Spring Festival holidays.

The Chinese government embarked on a nationwide strike against price cheating this week in a bid to create a festive and peaceful atmosphere for the people during the upcoming New Year and Chinese Spring Festival holidays.

The State Development Planning Commission said in a news release Saturday that price supervision authorities around the country would target price cheating in service sectors closely related to consumer activities during the holidays.

Involved would mainly be railway, highway and air transport, tourism, hotels, catering services, entertainment, parks and scenery spots, medical services and medicine.

The commission said this campaign aimed to create a sound market environment for people to spend a happy, peaceful and festive holiday.
