Russia and Iran on Wednesday signed a protocol on peaceful cooperation in nuclear energy, Iranian state media reported.
The agreement was inked by Russian Atomic Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev and head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization Gholam Reza Aqazadeh.
In the protocol, the two sides reiterated the need for speeding up the completion of Bushehr plant and agreed on forming a joint commission to carry out feasibility studies for construction of another nuclear energy plant in Iran.
Meanwhile, Iranian government spokesman Abdullah Ramezanzadeh said Wednesday it is Iran's "legal right to make peaceful use of nuclear energy."
Washington has voiced its suspicion that Iran may use the Bushehr plant for developing nuclear arms. Both Iran and Russia have rejected the US allegations.
