The three-month consultation period on implementing Article 23 of the Basic Law in Hong Kong ended Tuesday.
Representatives from many local organizations went to the headquarters of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on the final day of consultation to submit their comments.
The Security Bureau said 90,000 submissions of both support andopposition had been received.
The government plans to release a detailed proposal for the lawin February after reviewing all opinions, according to the Security Bureau.
According to Article 23 of the Basic Law, which went effective on July 1, 1997, when Hong Kong returned to the motherland, the HKSAR shall enact laws on its own to prohibit any act of treason, secession, sedition, subversion against the Central People's Government, or theft of state secrets.
Laws shall be enacted to prohibit foreign political organizations or bodies from conducting political activities in the Region, and to prohibit political organizations or bodies of the Region from establishing ties with foreign political organizations or bodies, according to the Basic Law.
