DPRK Has Right to Produce, Export Missiles: Newspaper
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) produces and exports missiles because of the military threat and economic sanctions from the United States, a local newspaper said on Tuesday.
The production and export of missiles is a matter under the DPRK sovereignty, said a commentary by Minju Josun, an organ of the DPRK cabinet, adding the country has the right to do so.
The article said the DPRK produces missiles because it is underthe military threat and economic sanctions from the United States, adding that it exports missiles to other countries in exchange forforeign currencies.
The United States has no right to interfere in other countries'legitimate weapons deals and is not entitled to serve as "an international weapons inspector," as Washington itself is the biggest weapons dealer in the world, the commentary said.
It urged Washington to behave itself and refrain from dictatingwhat others should do.
On Dec. 10, the US navy detained a DPRK cargo ship in the Arab Sea, which was carrying missile components and building materials to Yemen. The ship was released two days later.
