Iranian President Khatami Begins Pakistan Visit

Iranian President Seyyed Mohammad Khatami arrived in Islamabad on a three-day state visit to Pakistan on Monday for talks on regional and bilateral issues.

Iranian President Seyyed Mohammad Khatami arrived in Islamabad on a three-day state visit to Pakistan on Monday for talks on regional and bilateral issues.

Official talks between the two sides will be held on Dec. 24. The two delegations will be led at the talks by President Khatami and Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

The talks will focus on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations as well as regional issues of common concern especially Indo-Pak relations, Kashmir and Afghanistan, a Pakistani Foreign office statement said.

In the afternoon of Dec. 24, President Khatami will deliver a keynote address on the subject of dialogue among civilizations.

"The visit of President Khatami reaffirms the reciprocal sentiments of brotherhood and friendship existing between the two countries," the Foreign Office statement said.
