Defending Champions Beaten in China Open Badminton
Chinese qualifier Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun pulled off an upset Friday as they beat defending champions Zhang Jun/Zhang Wei 15-6, 15-11 in the men's doubles quarterfinals of the China Open badminton championships.

Fu/Cai, who reached the main draw through two rounds of preliminaries, will play third seed Choon Eng Chew/Chong Ming Chanof Malaysia in the semifinals on Saturday.
"We played well indeed and we were more aggressive than our opponents today," said Cai, who was a former singles player and began to pair up with Fu only months ago.
"It will definitely boost our confidence in the future," he added.
Chew/Chan outclassed Danish duo Michael Lamp/Mathias Boe 15-11,5-15, 15-13.
Denmark's Michael Sogaard/Jim Laugesen became the only non-Asian pair in the semifinals after edging second-seeded Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen, also from Denmark, 17-14, 15-12.
On Saturday, Sogaard/Laugesen take on Thai Pramote Teerawiwatana/Tesana Panvisvas, who drubbed Japan's Tadashi Ohtsuka/Keita Masuda 15-5, 4-15, 15-5 in quarterfinals.
