Roh Moo-hyun Holds Leading Place in S. Korean Presidential Election

The KBS, MBC, SBS announced their respective unofficial polls rightly after the ballot ended at 6:00 p.m.(0900 GMT) Thursday that Roh held tiny dominance against his biggest rival Grand National Party (GNP)'s candidate Lee Hoi-chang with 1.5-2.3 percent span.
KBS, the national TV, said Roh gained 49.1 percent of votes while Lee acquired 46.8 percent. The MBC reported that 48.4 percent of the voters supported Roh, while 46.9 percent voted for Lee. The SBS also said that Roh got 48.2 percent, 1.5 percent morethan Lee's.
According to the National Election Commission (NEC), the voters turnout is expected to reach 71-73 percent in the election, lower than 80.7 percent of the 1997 presidential election.
