Peru, China Sign up to Crime Fighting Cooperation

Peru and China strengthened communication and cooperation on Wednesday in Lima in the fight against transnational crime, drug trafficking, corruption and common criminal offenses by signing a memorandum of understanding.

Peru and China strengthened communication and cooperation on Wednesday in Lima in the fight against transnational crime, drug trafficking, corruption and common criminal offenses by signing a memorandum of understanding.

Han Zhubin, chief procurator of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate, and his Peruvian counterpart, Nelly Calderon, signed on behalf of their respective countries.

The memorandum says China and Peru should develop and promote the friendly and cooperative relations between their procuratorialorgans, based on principles of mutual respect of national sovereignty and of equality and mutual benefit.

Both nations will jointly do research and training work throughprofessional and technical personnel exchanges, and cooperation plans will also be made, under the memorandum.

It says the two sides will jointly research certain topics of interest to both, through exchange of visits by delegates and experts.

Both nations will also share information on law, policies, experiences, investigations and other aspects and exchange publications on law at each other's request, and in accordance with regulations of each country's law.

Han and his delegation arrived in Lima on Monday for a four-dayvisit at the invitation of Calderon.
