Iraq Will be Quagmire for Americans: Rafsanjani

The Americans will be dragged in quagmire if they dare to land in Iraq, Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani warned on Wednesday.

The Americans will be dragged in quagmire if they dare to land in Iraq, Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani warned on Wednesday.

The former Iranian president told a seminar sponsored by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, "If the Americans dared to land in Iraq, they will be dragged in quagmire" because the Americans have no experience in ground battle.

"A new laboratory for modern warfare is looming in our neighborhood Iraq," he was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency.

He called on the Iranian armed forces to be well prepared to "defend the country while the US militarism is posing a threat to world peace".
