Vice-premier Meets HK, Macao Chief Executives
Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen respectively met with Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, who are on their annual official visit to Beijing.

Qian said that under Tung's leadership Hong Kong had made remarkable progress since China resumed exercise of sovereignty inthe region five years ago.
He said the central government would take steps to make it easier for mainland citizens to travel to Hong Kong and improve the situation of passengers and cargo passing between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Tung updated Qian on the latest situation in Hong Kong and thanked the vice-premier for his strong support for the region's return to China and its development.
Qian also met with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, in Beijing on his annual official visit.
Qian said Macao had made positive all-round progress under the Ho administration since it returned to China three years ago.
He said he believed Macao would keep developing with the joint efforts of people of all circles.
Ho expressed his gratitude to the vice-premier for his concern for Macao-related affairs and his efforts to ensure its peaceful return to China and stability and development.
