The Israeli Likud Party, chaired by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, announced Monday its primary list for the general elections scheduled for Jan. 28, 2003.
Sharon and his party rival, Foreign Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, were guaranteed the first two places on the list.
Environment Minister Tzachi Hanegbi ranked third, followed by Finance Minister Silvan Shalom, Education Minister Limor Livnat andMinister without Portfolio Danny Naveh.
The party's super hawkish Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, was fixed at the 12th place, falling short of the expected top 10.
The latest polls show that Sharon's Likud will easily defeat itsarch rival -- the Labor party led by Haifa mayor Amram Mitzna, to capture at least 33 Knesset (parliament) seats.
Leaders at the top layer of the list would enter the Knesset, and the top 10 are expected to serve as portfolios in the new government.
According to the elections timetable, the parties running in theelections should hand over primary lists to the Central Election Committee by Wednesday.
The Labor party will produce its primary list on Monday. Its chairman Mitzna said he believed that Labor would win more than 30 seats in the 16th Knesset.
But polls show that the party, currently the largest faction in the 15th Knesset, could get only 19 or 20 seats in the upcoming general elections.
