Chinese Economy to Enjoy Bright Future
The Chinese economy will continue its steady development in 2003, Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Statistics Qiu Xiaohua said Sunday at a forum on the 16th Party congress and Chinese economy.

Qiu said his optimistic prediction was based on continuity and stability of macro-economic policy, coming benefits of World TradeOrganization entry, strengthening of tertiary industry, and expected profits from growth markets including housing, travel andculture.
He said other factors driving steady growth of the economy in the long run include globalization of the economy, urbanization, the combination of industrialization with development of the information industry, and the growing democracy and privatization in the economy.
Qiu said the Chinese economy in 2002 features stable development and slight growth, an all-round increase in investment,consumption and exports, further perfection of export policy, and improvement in the quality of economic performance.
