World AIDS Day Observed in Bangladesh
The World AIDS Day was observed in Bangladesh on Sunday as elsewhere around the globe with a common objective to create greater awareness against the killer disease HIV/AIDS.
The World AIDS Day was observed in Bangladesh on Sunday as elsewhere around the globe with a common objective to create greater awareness against the killer disease HIV/AIDS.
The government as well as different national and international organizations including the United Nations Fund for Population Activities observed the day through holding of various awareness-building programs like seminar, discussion, rally, photo exhibition and cultural function in the capital city and reportedly in the other parts of the country also.
The day-long program started with rallies organized by both thegovernment and non-government organizations (NGO). Those participated in the rallies were teachers, students, NGO activists,members of the elite and government officials and voluntary organizations.
This year's theme of the World AIDS Day is "To Live and Let Others Live."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh on Sunday launched a month-long signature campaign to build awareness against AIDS.
President Iajuddin Ahmed and Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia issued separate messages on the day and called upon all to create greater awareness in all spheres of national life against this killer disease.
