Chinese Yang Yang (A) Wins World Cup 1,500m

Olympic 500 meters champion Yang Yang (A) of China won the women's 1,500 meters final at 2:47.914 in a World Cup short track speed skating meet Friday in S.Petersburg of Russia.

Olympic 500 meters champion Yang Yang (A) of China won the women's 1,500 meters final at 2:47.914 in a World Cup short track speed skating meet Friday in S.Petersburg of Russia.

European champion Evgenia Radanova of Bulgaria came second in 2:48.003 and South Korea's Cho Ha-Ri was third in 2:48.039.

Women's World Cup overall leader Choi Eun-Kyung, with 100 points after two competitions, was disqualified for cross-trackingafter leading for most of the preliminary heat.

Olympic champion Apolo Ohno of the United States lifted his first World Cup victory this season, winning the men's 1,500 meters.

The American clocked 2 minutes, 20.034 seconds. He actually crossed the line behind China's Li Jiajun, who was disqualified for impeding competitors in the seventh lap.

Ahn Hyun-Soo of South Korea came second, 0.066 seconds behind, followed by Canada's Mathieu Turcotte in 2:20.228.
