China's Software Sales to Hit RMB 250 Billion by 2005

Official with the Informationization Office of the State Council announced that the new goal of the software development in China is to reap a sales value of 250 billion-yuan in the software market. The software turned out in China and the relevant services provided in domestic market to make up a market share of 60 percent by the year of 2005 and to earn 5 billion US dollars in export.

In line with the "Outline for Vitalizing the Software Industry (2002 - 2005)" worked out jointly by the Informationization Office of the State Council and relevant departments, the central finance will increase its investment for software industry during the "10th Five Year Plan" period. The amount is at least 4 billion-yuan in people's currency.

As relevant person of the Information Office of the State Council introduced, the recent year have witnessed a rapid development in software industry in China. From last January to September the national software industry has already harvested a sales value of 76 billion-yuan and is expected to reach 110 billion yuan by the yearend, an increase of over 40 percent as against that of last year. Nevertheless, it sees only a small scope in volume, especially in export, only 10 percent that from India.
