Vice Premier Li Lanqing Meets French President
Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Li Lanqing said Friday in Paris that the establishment of a Chinese cultural center in France and a French cultural center in China will bring new life to bilateral cultural exchanges.

The Chinese Cultural Center in Paris was unveiled Friday, whilea similar French Cultural Center in Beijing will also be established, according to an agreement signed by the two countries last year.
During a meeting with Li, French President Jacques Chirac congratulated the launch of the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris. He said cultural exchanges have played a special role in bilateral relations between France and China.
During the meeting, Li, who arrived here Thursday for a good-will visit to France, briefed Chirac on the just-concluded 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Chirac described the CPC congress as a success, saying the French side believed China would achieve en even greater success under the guiding principles set by the congress.
