Visiting Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing said Thursday in Bratislava that China appreciates the efforts made by Slovak President Rudolf Schuster in pushing forward relations with China and the stance of Slovakia on the issue of Taiwan.

Li said during a meeting with Schuster that he had held fruitful talks with the prime minister and the deputy prime minister of Slovakia respectively and the two sides had reached consensus on many issues.

There is no unsettled issue between the two sides, Li said, adding that the common task for the two sides now is to consolidate and develop bilateral cooperative ties.

For his part, Schuster said that although Slovakia and China differ in size, they have many things in common. The close cooperation between the two sides has been mutually beneficial.

The president said he will continue to contribute to the growth of bilateral relations. He also reiterated that Slovakia will uphold the one-China policy.

Li is expected to conclude his visit to Slovakia Thursday. Before Slovakia, he visited Croatia. He will also make a trip to France and attend a meeting of the Bureau of International Exposition in Monaco that will decide on the host city of World Expo 2010.
