"Advertising expenditure is regarded as an economic barometer. China's advertising industry with a constant growth would appear to signal the strong stamina and the expanding market of the economic development," said Forrest Didier, managing director, Nielsen Media Research Asia Pacific.

"Education appeared within the top 10 ad spending categories for the first time, with the ad spending increasing by 9 times over the same period last year, which indicated a situation of soaring educational consumption," added Mr. Didier.

As learned, the top 10 ad spending categories during the third quarter this year are Tonic and Vitamins, Shampoo/Conditioner, Chinese Over-the-Counter health products, Leasing and Purchasing of Residential Buildings, Education/Schooling, Skin Care, Toilet Soap/Liquid Soap, Stomach Medicine and Toothpaste & Oral hygiene.
