Chinese Premier Meets Japanese Guests
The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has positively promoted China's economicand technical progress and enhanced friendship between China and Japan, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Wednesday while meeting with JICA President Takao Kawakami.

Zhu said that since the two governments started economic and technical cooperation over two decades ago, the JICA had established sound cooperative ties with Chinese departments related through projects in China.
China always welcomed and attached great importance to economicand technical cooperation with Japan, said Zhu, adding that such cooperation benefited both sides.
The two neighbors had a promising future in developing long-term, stable, good-neighborly relations, Zhu said.
Zhu also expressed his hope that the two sides take advantage of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of their diplomatic ties to further develop bilateral relations, in the spirit of "taking history as a mirror and looking forward to the future" and guided by the Sino-Japanese Joint Statement and other agreements.
Takao Kawakami outlined the progress of JICA projects in China.
Established in 1974, the JICA provides free technical assistance and promotes economic development and social progress in developing countries.
