Japan Gives up Talks on Ties with DPRK
Japan said Monday that it will be unable to hold normalization talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) by the end of this month because of the ongoing dispute over the abductions of Japanese nationals, Japan's Kyodo News reported.
Japan said Monday that it will be unable to hold normalization talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) by the end of this month because of the ongoing dispute over the abductions of Japanese nationals, Japan's Kyodo News reported.
"It may be difficult" to hold high-level normalization talks because there is not enough time to resolve differences over the abduction issue, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda wasquoted as saying.
In normalization talks in Kuala Lumpur late October, the DPRK side proposed holding the next round of normalization talks in late November, but Japan responded that it would take the matter home to consider it, according to Kyodo.
