Under an decree issued by the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on Nov.13, the law on the Mt. Kumgang Tourist Zone was adopted and the tourist business in Mt. Kumgang will be conducted by South Koreans, overseas Koreans and foreigners, the KCNA said.

South Koreans, overseas Koreans, corporate bodies, individuals and economic organizations of other countries are allowed to make investment and conduct business such as tourism, hotel service andcatering.
Developers are also encouraged to invest in up-to-date technology and the software industry, according to the law.
However, DPR Koreans are prohibited from doing business or travelling in the zone, which covers the Mt. Kumgang area in Kosong County and some areas of Thongchon County in Kangwon Province.
Situated on the east coast of the DPRK, Mt. Kumgang was opened to South Koreans from November 1998, receiving a total of 500,000 visitors up to now. The DPRK and South Korea have discussed ways to boost tourism there.
