Shanghai Beats Beijing to Win China's Female-Soccer Championship

A golden goal from Ji Ting handed Shanghai SVA the trophy of China's female-soccer championships with a 2-1 win in FOSHAN on Sunday over Beijing Chengjian,which held this year's titles of China's female soccer league and premier league.

A golden goal from Ji Ting handed Shanghai SVA the trophy of China's female-soccer championships with a 2-1 win in FOSHAN on Sunday over Beijing Chengjian,which held this year's titles of China's female soccer league and premier league.

Ji Ting struck in the 12th minute of extra-time, latching on toa through ball from Pu Wei to lob goalkeeper Cao Yue.

Beijing took the lead with a nice effort at the 75th minute when forward Zhang Tong volleyed home a cross from midfieder Liu Ying, but Shanghai leveled the score at 1-1 in the first minute ofstoppage time when Tang Lingli scored in a goalmouth scramble.

In Saturday's game, Dalian Shide claimed the championships' runners-up place, by defeating the once more illustrious host Guangdong Haiyin.

The tournament was once said to serve as a qualifier for next year's premier league, and all the eight teams that got a spot in the finals went through automatically.
