NATO Chief: Alliance will Support US Action on Iraq
Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) George Robertson said Wednesday in Prague that leaders of the military alliance will all agree on a message of support for the United States on disarmament of Iraq.

"There will be total unity of heads of state and government of NATO in supporting the UN Resolution 1441," Robertson said on theeve of the NATO summit to be held here on enlargement of the alliance.
The remarks suggested that the summit, held on Thursday and Friday, might reach an agreement on the Iraqi issue.
When asked what would happen if Washington asked NATO support for military action against Iraq, Robertson said he did not think it wise "to cross bridges before you come to them."
But he said there might be no need for military action.
Reports here said that US President George W. Bush might had paved the way for agreement by NATO leaders to support him on the issue of Iraqi disarmament.
"If the decision is made to use military force, we will consultwith our friends and we hope that our friends will join us," Bush said earlier Wednesday at a joint press conference with Czech President Vaclav Havel.
He said a strong NATO support for disarming Baghdad militarily could avert war.
