Chinese lifter Song Zhijuan swept women's 58kg's snatch, jerk and total golds with ease at the weightlifting world championships here on Wednesday.

Song, 22, snatched 105 kgs, jerked 125 for a total of 230.

"I am strong in the snatch and I was prepared to break my own world record before the competition," Song said.

In her powerful snatch, Song was the last stepping onto the platform with the first attempt of 100kg after all the other 21 lifters produced their final results, the best of which was 97.5kg.

Song, who did not compete in the Busan Asian Games in October, cleared the weight without any difficulty and subsequently lifted 105kg in her second attempt.

The Chinese, who set the world record of 106kg in Hungary last month, failed to improve her world mark in her third attempt for 162.5kg.

"I made a small mistake in the balance when I pushed the barbell over my head. I was too eager to break the record," she admitted.

Li Shunzhu, the Chinese head coach, said: "We had arranged the tactics of guaranteeing snatch gold in first attempt, expanding the advantage for total gold in the second attempt and challengingthe world record in the third."

"Song did quite well in implementing the tactics. Of course, luck is not always on her side," Li added.

In the clean and jerk, Song jerked 120kg in her first attempt, which was cleared only by Thai Wandee Kameaim in her second attempt.

Kameaim, 24, was directed by a Chinese coach. She failed to lift 125kg in her third effort.

Song, who failed to overcome 122.5kg in her second attempt, challenged and made it 125kg in the third attemtp.

Subsequently, Song took the total gold with 230kg.

Kameaim finished second in both the jerk and the total with 120and 212.5 respectively.
