Musharraf Takes Oath as Pakistani President for Five Years

General Pervez Musharraf took oath of office of the President of Pakistan on Saturday morning for a five-year term, in accordance with the Constitution.

Musharraf Takes Oath as Pakistani President for Five Years
General Pervez Musharraf took oath of office of the President of Pakistan on Saturday morning for a five-year term, in accordance with the Constitution.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan administered him the oath at a ceremony being held at Aan-e-Sadr (President Palace), at 9:30 a.m.,which was televised at PTV.

It was announced that the five-year term of the president will start with the first session of the newly-elected National Assembly, which met just 90 minutes after Musharraf took oath as president. He is now the 9th president of Pakistan.

Musharraf will continue to hold the office of the Chief of ArmyStaff and be the president in uniform.
