China, EU to Strengthen Cooperation in Combating Illegal Migration

China and the European Union (EU) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in combating illegal migration, including exchanging information and personnel of relevant departments, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

China and the European Union (EU) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in combating illegal migration, including exchanging information and personnel of relevant departments, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

The China-EU Seminar on Illegal Migration and Trafficking of Human Beings was held here from Nov. 14 to 15 to begin implementation of the agreement reached by the leaders of China and the EU, according to the ministry.

The friendly and frank discussions at the seminar have promoted mutual understanding, expanded consensus on a number of issues and strengthened the determination of the two sides to combat illegal migration. The two sides also agreed on the content of future cooperation.

Delegates from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the EU Commission and the 15 member states of the EU participated in the meeting.
